Broken Into!

Kevin came in the room this morning and asked the strangest question, “Have you left the doors open?” Puzzled I said,”Why?” He answered “I think we’ve been broken into!” Half awake We made our way downstairs to find the living room slightly messy and the patio door wide open. I left my handbag in the room the night before and obviously it was looked into but to my surprise nothing was missing. We have some baskets we keep little change and I sometimes dump my keys in there. Looking into them the only thing missing is my CAR KEYS!! Calmly I asked Kev if my car is still there? He said yes….

I sat down still a bit shocked and said “Thank you Jesus.” Let’s back track to the day before. Working as usual at my work place a thought came into my mind ‘what if somebody came into the shop to tell me someone’s stolen my car!’ I then thought to myself gosh that would be such a hassle! Altho’ we might be covered by insurance but with no car it would be a pain to get to places especially with my condition. I then said the shortest simple prayer,”Lord please don’t let that happen, please also protect my family.” I then carried on as usual.

Got home as usual did the usual stuff…. Went to bed ready for the next day. In the middle of the night I went to the loo and then the little one needed a cuddle. So cuddling the little one went back to bed. In the process I did hear a loud bang, like someone closing a door. I even had a thought, ‘ mmmm that might be a thief in the house.’ I even casually said,’ Lord please protect us Amen.’ Without even realising fell asleep.

This morning sitting on the sofa, I couldn’t thank him enough! The only reason my car was not stolen was because Kevin’s car and our neighbour’s car was in the way. Kevin keeps his keys somewhere else . Only by God’s grace that no money was stolen from my bag altho’ there was quite a bit of cash in it but because we ordered takeaway the night before I left my purse in a funny place within my bag. Only by God’s grace that none of my credit cards were taken because it’s in a funny container. Only by God’s grace ‘they’ did not see the ‘Tom Tom’ lying around. Only by God’s grace ‘they’ did not bother going upstairs to look for things. Only with Him that they did not find Kevin’s keys. Only by God’s grace that I parked my car in front of Kevin’s. Only by His Grace and comfort that I fell asleep without even noticing that He’s taking care of everything else.

No words can express how thankful I am!! ‘ THANK YOU JESUS!! ‘

Preggy again!! :)

Yes it’s been sometime since I posted on my blog…. well same old story, work , small D, big K and lots of housework.

And yes bub number two is on the way and baby’s 22wks 6days today.

These past few months a lot has happened, good ones, bad ones, we even went on holiday. But what struck me most was the rate I’m growing!!

I remember while we were on holiday I asked Kevin, ‘Do I look fat?’. His kind words were ‘no, you’re pregnant and thats supppose to happen.’ Now and again I’ll ask him the same silly question and he’ll sometimes answer, ‘are you sure you’re not pregnant coz we need to check that bump out.’

I was walking along the beach that day enjoying God’s creation and at the same time reflecting on how miserable I sometimes get feeling big. Tears filled my eyes when I started to think of someone I knew who’s partner left her while she was pregnant for another. I started putting myself in her place. How would you cope?!! All that self esteem…so so low. How do you get through the pains of labour and then having to bring the child up yourself? I said a little prayer ‘Please help this lady cope! Please make it easy for her!’ I do not know what else to say but I had to thank Him for his blessings, for His constant support and presence.

I continued walking along the warm sandy beach, this time I could feel the little one kicking within me, it always sends a tickle around my belly, a really good feeling. I then started to reflect on  how lucky I was to have a family who loves and care for me. I couldn’t have asked for more, when I’m down there’s always someone there to comfort me. There’s always someone there to make me laugh, always someone there to distract me from the daily worries, always someone there to keep me occupied. I started to thank God for all the wonderful people and blessings He’s showered me with.

Now at this very moment, the little mister is busy practising his kicks and somersaults, his movements keeps me happy. It always gives me a warm feeling, a feeling of reassurance, a feeling of ‘its ok you’re really pregnant mummy and I’m happy inside’!!!

Dylan 14 months+

Can’t believe my boy is more than 14 months now, time really flies.

At 14 months he can walk really well, he knows how to clap his hands properly. Every time you say ‘good boy’ he will start clapping his hands accompanied by a smile on his face.

He knows how to wave, if you say ‘good night’ or ‘bye bye’.

He likes to drag your hands around landing them on things he wants or sometimes expects you to do something with your hands on the things he puts them on.

He eats alot more now, but he still doesn’t drink a lot. If you are eating, he will always come round asking for some.

His favourite food is still scramble eggs / curtard. He also enjoys munching on biscuits and raisins.

His favourite pass time is still bathing, he now also enjoys standing by the bath tub looking at the water filling up his basin.

He understands the word ‘no’ but sometimes chooses to ignore it.

He would run to the gate when me or Kevin comes home and expects a cuddle ASAP.

He also likes to walk into the kitchen or play with his laundry basket whenever given the chance to escape from the living room.

If he sees you tidying up his toys, he would come running taking everything out again.

He doesn’t like to be left alone, he would shout at you while standing by the gate asking for attention.

He still sleeps in the middle of the bed and ask for milk at night.

He’s such a blessing to us… our precious boy Dylan Chiu.

Baking in the New Year!

I found a few lemons lying around in the fridge, so decided to google ‘lemon’ for ideas on how to get rid of them. After searching the net for recipes I finally decided on baking a lemon tart. Reason, I also had some ready made pastry and lots of eggs.

Turns out things didn’t go as smoothly as expected. To start, the pastry was mouldy (it wasn’t even expired). So I had to make one from scratch. Because I didn’t want it too buttery I substituted some with milk whom I directed Kevin to pour while I mix. Well he poured too much and it turned into a cake consistency, so instead of a pastry base I had to compromise with a dry cake base.

When it was time to pour the lemon mixture, I realised I forgot to seal the tin and it started leaking in the oven!! Had to pour the watery lemon mixture out again, seal the tin, clean the oven and surrounding area and then bake.

Turns out

not the prettiest, but was not a disaster.Tasted good too!

Merry Christmas !!!(Better late than never…)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! (Anyway just imagine it’s christmas day)

We had a blast this year, it’s been such a blessed year!! Today we woke up late, opened some presents and the four of us (including Aunty Ignis) had breakfast which consisted of chocolates and chocolate biscuits. We then made our way to Christmas service. Thats my 2 boys looking all smart ready for church.

After church I fried some noodles with some char siu I made earlier in the week.

After lunch, I continued to spend time in the kitchen cooking, preparing some dinner for friends who will be coming over a bit later. Here’s some pictures I loaded on christmas day and today.

Thank you Lord!

Every night before I go to bed I will say a little prayer to the Lord and in that prayer I will always pray for God to protect my little one and always keep him safe.

Well today he was playing with his dad in the study room. I walked in the room gave him a cuddle then ran downstairs to check on my roast pork. While I was cooking I could hear him giggling thinking he must be playing with his dad. Since I’ve got a second spare I walked out the kitchen to have a peek…

Looking out of the kitchen door all I could see was Dylan ALONE on the staircase nearly reaching the bottom few steps. I could not believe my eyes, I ran to the steps to carry him and yelled for Kevin. The little one even managed a grin as I took him into my arms. Turns out Kevin thought that I was looking after him as he followed me out of the room when I was going to the kitchen.

It was that moment that I thought of my simple prayer every night, the Lord have been answering my prayers. I couldn’t help but thank Him for looking after my little one, I honestly think my little boy would have rolled down the stairs crying if not hurting himself….  Instead He guided him down the stairs amusing him along the way… Amen.

Murder!!!

I found out that someone was murdered outside my work place in the early hours of yesterday morning!! The police had to cordon off the front of the shop to get forensic evidence. So all the customers had to come thru’ the back door!! There was blood splatters everywhere…

Apparently, there was an attack by a group of people on a single person. They were kicking and punching this person. The girls involved went to a nearby shop to buy some bottles and handed it over to the boys. The injured person was later taken to hospital but later died!!!

Well the story’s not confirmed yet and we still don’t know who is the victim. But we certainly can confirm a murder happened in front of the shop!!! GOSHHH…..

3-D week

Channel 4 lauched this week as 3-D week and was showing some shows in 3D. So we had some glasses so we could enjoy some 3 dimensional entertainment. It was ok… I guess if the TV was bigger we might be able to appreciate it more. But guess who enjoyed it most….

Well, the little man did not watch much of the 3D shows but he just likes playing with the glasses…

Same story as last week, Kev’s at work again this time working nights!!!

So here goes…chocolate muffins with a cream cheese filling.

Altho’ I mentioned cream cheese filling, you can’t really taste the cream cheese, not a disappointment tho’ as it tasted really really good. It’s virtually fat free…apart from the cream cheese (but I used the LIGHT version). No milk, no oil (if replace with apple sauce), no butter…. I repeat highly recommended.

Eeeeerrrrmmm, I did frost some with chocolate icing tho’ as it was too good to be true hehehe…

1st layer

cream cheese mix layer and then another layer of chocolate

taaaa daaaa!! Done

creamed!!!

My Popo Kota Belud

Yes thats what me and my sis use to call my mother’s mum… popo Kota Belud. I guess it was because she was from Kota Belud. My popo KB is with the Lord now and its been about 14 years. That was a long time ago and yet at times I still think of her.

She was a real character :) When we were younger we would get really excited when my popo KB comes to visit. We know she’ll always bring goodies (food) to Tenom everytime she visits. I remember eating lots of kuihs, I especially remember eating some round kuihs brown in colour sweet, tasted like gula melaka…

She would then bring us (me and my sis) to the coffee shops and we could order whatever we wanted and if we asked she would buy anything for us. We would have the luxury to drink cola and eat keropok (by the way not to my mother’s knowledge as we were never allowed junk food when we were kids). Popo KB would give us 50cents each and we would walk round the shops with money in hand to buy whatever we fancy. I remember once me and my sis really fancied some pop pop guns. Its a small plastic gun where you have to put a roll of red paper with black dots on and everytime you pull the trigger it would make a pop sound and sometimes smoke will come out of the gun. So when popo KB took us out, we asked if we could have one and of course she bought it for us hehehehe. We would then play with our new toys and eat our keropok while popo KB chats with her friends. Aaaaaaah those were the good old days.

Oh and popo KB likes to hug and kiss kiss, I remember she’ll come over give me a great big hug and a wet wet kiss on the cheeks which I’ll wipe off quickly after.

When I got older, I stayed with her in KK. She enjoys cooking for us and every morning she’ll make us breakfast, sometimes fried eggs, sometimes fried mee, fried mee hoon there’s always something to eat. If you ever mention you like something… she’ll cook it everyday or she’ll buy loads of whatever you fancy. Yes thats my popo KB.

I did say she’s a character didn’t I… well my popo KB swears *smile smile* Yes and she’ll say things like ‘tan ta lao’ *lol* and other obscene stuff. She pronounces library as ‘bibary’ or vacuum (for vacuum cleaner) as ‘cofuum’. She likes to shout too, my oh my she can shout… She’ll stand by the door and shout for me to come home if I’m at my friend’s house 3 blocks away and yes I can hear her ‘Liiiiiiiiiiiiissaaaaaaa sit fan loooooh’. hahaha

Oh thats my popo Kota Belud…..
